A wave of familiarity came

A wave of familiarity came over me at a recent Group Medium Night when Dave began describing “a thin man pushing a lawn mower.” My brother was a talented landscape designer, and extremely thin when he died of cancer. Every detail and image that Dave continued to mention about my brother is validated in family memories and photos – his Gilligan-like brimmed hat, bright colored clothes, BEATLES music, round wire-rim glasses, the trailer he used for business. He added a message that he was happy with “…who has it. It went to a good person and put to good use” and I confirmed the trailer was sold to his good friend to be used as a backyard woodworking shop. Emotions caught in my throat when Dave said, “a sunflower.” A huge section of my brother’s yard was covered with tall bright sunflowers; the last flowers I remember seeing in his beautiful garden. To hear Dave deliver these images and several messages from my brother on the other side has eased the grief and brought a smile to my heart.
